Tutorial 6 of 6

Life in weeks and live counters

Beginner 6 min

Draw your life as a grid of weeks with milestones, count days, Sundays and Full Moons, and turn any rate into a live counter you can put on your own web page.

Two views deal with time: Life in weeks (key 5) and Rate counter (key 6).

Life in weeks

Enter your Birth date. The grid shows one row per year of life and one box per week: filled boxes are weeks lived, the pink box is this week. Years in the grid sets the number of rows (90 by default).

At the top you see the Weeks lived and which week of which year of your life this is. The facts list counts Days lived, Months lived, the Share of the grid, Boxes left, Sundays, Leap days, Full Moons (about) and your Next birthday.

Under Milestones, write one per line: the date, then a label, like 2012-09-01 First job. Each milestone becomes an orange box and a row in the Milestones table with its year of life and week.

Each row starts on your birthday, so a year has 52 boxes plus a day or two; people born on 29 February move on to the next row on 28 February in common years.

Your birth date and milestones stay in this browser and in project files you save. File → Share link… leaves them out.

Rate counter

The Rate counter turns “so much per time” into every other unit of time. Choose a Preset — Light travels (km), Earth moves around the Sun (km) or The equator turns (km) — or enter your own: What is counted, Amount, Per and Unit.

Press Start and the counter runs live from zero. Two tables show The same rate per unit of time and the amount After a span of time, from one minute to ten years. With a Target (0 = none), Sizewise tells you how long it takes to reach it — light needs about 1.28 seconds to the Moon.

Live counter for your own page holds a small piece of HTML with its own script. Copy embed code copies it; Export → Live counter as HTML saves it as a file. The counter sends nothing anywhere and slows down for visitors who prefer reduced motion.
